As part of Maker Faire Westport, Remarkable STEAM, in partnership with the Westport Library, is pleased to announce an Amazon Alexa Skills Building Bootcamp on Sunday, April 23, 2017. Alexa, the voice service that powers Amazon Echo, provides capabilities, or skills, that enable customers to interact with devices in a more intuitive way using their own voice. Examples of skills include the ability to play music, answer general questions, add items to a shopping list, set an alarm or timer, and more.
“Being able to interact with a computer with my voice is hard to comprehend; I still find it hard to believe,” said Mark Mathias, founder and co-chair of Maker Faire Westport and president of Remarkable STEAM. “Yet people now do it every day. It’s hard to believe this was not possible just a few years ago and we’re only starting to see what this technology can do,” he added.
Alexa Voice Services is becoming quite literally the voice of thousands of devices—thermostats, cars, appliances and more. Amazon pros will offer two classes at the Library: This first session is from 1 – 3 pm and the second runs from 3 – 5 pm.
The classes are free and registration is required as seating is limited.
